Former Schulz Studio head Paige Braddock honored with 2025 Sparky Award

-

Paige Braddock, Creative Director Emeritus at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates, was honored with a 2025 Sparky Award from San Francisco’s Cartoon Art Museum.

Braddock, trained by Charles M. Schulz and personally asked by the Peanuts creator to take over the Charles M. Schulz Studio, recently stepped down as its head after 25 years of leadership. To celebrate her career making comics, she helped to host the Cartoon-A-Thon event, hosted by the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in April.

“I assumed the role of Creative Director Emeritus at Charles M. Schulz Creative Associates after twenty-five years of leadership,” Braddock wrote on her blog. “To celebrate, the museum invited cartoonists from near and far to do what cartoonists love to do best—make comics and share comics. It was really fun to celebrate the art form and share the space with so many talented creators.”

Braddock’s cartoonist pal, and Schulz Studio colleague, Lex Fajardo, helped organize the event and joined the Jane’s World cartoonist on the Schulz Museum stage to discuss her journey as an artist. Shortly after the talk was opened for questions from the audience, the Cartoon Art Museum Board Chair, Ron Evans, presented the Sparky Award, named after Schulz (who was nicknamed “Sparky”), to Braddock on behalf of the Cartoon Art Museum and the Schulz Museum.

“The Sparky Award is presented to cartoonists who ’embody the talent, innovation, and humanity of Schulz,’” Braddock continued. “I am so honored to have received this award.”

She continued, “Funny thing is, when I accepted the job at the Schulz Studio, my first stop in Northern California was the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. Receiving the Sparky Award was a full-circle moment for me. One that I will always cherish.”
