Daredevil: Born Again, essentially a rebranded season four of Netflix’s Daredevil, wrapped up its first season on April 15th. While its nine episode season told and concluded a handful of stories, it began even more plots. Luckily, we already know when season two will be released.
The original Daredevil ran on Netflix from 2015 to 2018. After the show was canceled, both Charlie Cox/Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio/Wilson Fisk continued to make sporadic appearances throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Daredevil: Born Again, the revived show now completely under the Disney banner, premiered on Disney+ on March 4th.
Daredevil: Born Again mostly took a fresh start approach to the series, dropping a few characters from the original run and adding others. Matt Murdock, who had retired from his Daredevil activities, continued to practice law at his new firm, Murdock & McDuffie. Wilson Fisk, meanwhile, returned to New York City and was elected mayor. Murdock and Fisk tried their best to avoid each other, but, ultimately, their lives were drawn back together in “Straight to Hell”, the season’s epic conclusion. With Matt back as Daredevil and Fisk cracking down on vigilantes, when can we expect to see this feud continue?
According to showrunner Dario Scardapane, Daredevil: Born Again season two will be released in March of 2026. So only a year after season one began. With the conclusion of season one, Scardapane took to Instagram to thank his cast and crew and announce when the next season will air. Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation at Marvel Studios, has confirmed this. He stated that season two has already begun filming.
There’s not much else we know about the next season. With some vigilantes imprisoned by Fisk and Daredevil stating that he needs allies, fans are already speculating that a reunion of the Defenders will be in our future. However, nothing has been confirmed.
Disney+ so far doesn’t have a great track record when it comes to giving multiple seasons to superhero shows. So far, only Loki has gotten more than one season, and that show only lasted two. Winderbaum remains optimistic that this could lead to the revival of Defenders-related shows (those being Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, as well as The Punisher, who has already appeared in Daredevil: Born Again). Only time will tell if Daredevil: Born Again will run long enough to satisfy both the creative team and fans of the show. Daredevil: Born Again, as well as all three seasons of the original Daredevil, is available to stream on Disney+.
